Lauren Tate

Lauren Tate is a Writer, Author and Workshop Leader from Detroit, Michigan, a University of Michigan Alum, and a Self-published author.

Being a survivor of sexual abuse at the age of 5 years old, Lauren, at the age of 9, took pen to paper and, out of trauma, began to wield pain into purpose. Later, as a young adult, she wrote and self-published her first book, Fragments of a Full Memory, documenting the joys and trials of finding her voice. Writing is a crucial tool Lauren uses to process, reflect, and learn more about herself and her role in the world.

She currently works as a consultant with We R.U.L.E, a non-profit she cofounded with Dr. Carol Van Dyke, helping young women who experienced sexual violence and broken relationships improve their mental and emotional wellness by providing education and support.

How it Works

1. Arrive + Unplug

Participants begin by stepping away from distractions and grounding into the present moment. The session opens with a short centering practice to create a calm, safe, and intentional space.

2. Guided Writing

Through carefully crafted journal prompts and literary exercises, participants are guided to explore self-awareness, honesty, and personal reflection — no prior writing experience required.

3. Reflection + Integration

Participants are invited (never required) to reflect quietly or share insights in a supportive group setting. Emphasis is placed on listening, compassion, and personal reflection.

4. Take It With You

Each participant leaves with tools they can return to — writing practices that support clarity, emotional processing, and continued self-connection beyond the workshop.
